Communicating in a Tech-Driven World – Sermon 2

Communicating in a Tech-Driven World

Interface? Or face to face?

Is this a positive or negative thing?

Does the Bible speak to this issue —especially as it relates to our families?

Deuteronomy 6:4-9King James Version (KJV)

Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord:

And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.

And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:

And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes.

And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates.

The Lifestyle We’re Challenged to Live

  • Hear the Word of God
  • Embrace the Word of God

The Example We’re Compelled to Follow

  • Invest in the Lives of Others
  • This process requires COMMUNICATION!

The Result We’re Hoping to Achieve

Adolescents do far better in school and in life when their parents are involved with them—when they have time for them—and when they get together almost every day for conversation and interaction.

The Challenge We’re Willing to Take

  • Be intentional about meaningful communication
  • Specify time to be ‘technology free.’
