Realize that God will pursue you. Recognize that you are helpless without Him. Refocus upon god and godly things. Rely upon God to rescue you from despair. Remember the Lord with prayer and thanksgiving. Respond in obedience when God directs you.
The situation facing the church in Jerusalem was seemingly hopeless. King Herod had just executed the Apostle James, and Peter was in prison awaiting execution as well. The church was praying for his release, but they really didn’t think it would do any good. How would they continue without Peter and James? Is there really power in the prayers that we pray? Can we really trust that God hears us and acts upon our prayers?
In John 17, Jesus prayed for…Himself, Followers of Christ and Future Christ Followers
John 16:16-33, Do you have confusion about the future? Sorrow will change into Joy. Prayer is a specific example of the change.
John 15:18-16:4a We are CALLED to FOLLOW. We are COMMANDED to TESTIFY. We are CHALLENGED to CONTINUE to the END.
A person’s ability to listen to correction is an indicator of his spiritual maturity. The immature think they are ‘never wrong.’
True greatness affects others. Serving others…
Creates thankfulness
Blesses the person served
Encourages others
Opens them to Christ
Glorifies God to unbelievers
Honors God
Encourages yourself

Where am I to pray? How am I to pray?
‘without ceasing’ – This is NOT referring to ‘uninterrupted prayer,’ but the idea of ‘constantly recurring prayer’—kind of like an incessant cough.
‘in everything’ – God wants the lessons taught during those difficult circumstances to be made effectual in us by His power.
What is the ‘kingdom of God’?
If we are to pray for God’s ‘kingdom come,’ is it wrong to pray for personal needs?
What attitudes and actions contradict kingdom focused prayer?…
