Why do so many people struggle to get their knowledge of the Bible and their obedience to the Bible to match up? It’s because their academic theology doesn’t match their practical theology. Paul David Tripp wrote: “Theology is not just a pursuit of the mind; it is something that you do with your whole life.…
As we enter into the New Year, many people are making New Year’s Resolutions with the hopes of improving their lives. Some resolutions are grandiose and unrealistic while others are more practical and feasible. But what if there was a resolution that was guaranteed to succeed? Wouldn’t that be worth your time? Listen in as Pastor David shares what the Bible has to say about the kind of resolution that lasts.
One of the greatest threats to your spiritual growth and development in 2026 is the busyness of life—or what some might call “the daily grind.” We must ask ourselves: My goal for this morning is to bring you some practical advice from the Scripture about the Scripture and its effect on your life. To help…
To focus our thoughts this week of Thanksgiving, we will be looking at Paul’s teaching in Philippians 4. One of our songs of worship today is based off this passage. The story behind the writing of this song, “Rejoice,” is that the song speaks directly to the challenges of our time, especially the common struggle…
A.W. Tozer said, “It is doubtful whether God can bless a man greatly until he has hurt him deeply.” Jacob was no different. Jacob was a schemer and a deceiver and yet God chose him to be the recipient of His covenant blessing to Abraham and his descendants. But this did not come easy. God…
In Psalm 1, the psalmist provides us with a mantra for life. This song is simple and to the point, and the psalmist provides us with a way forward through the difficulties and anxieties of life. This way forward consists of simple, actionable steps that will bring us joy and happiness in this life.
Growing up in the 90s, a lot of our high school preparation for future was based on trying to figure out “what makes us happy” or “what brings us fulfillment.” As we look to God’s will for our lives, we often place too much emphasis on us and not enough emphasis on doing the Will…
Dillon Hall, a senior Bible major from Central Baptist College, was here representing the school for our CBC Day. He shared a message from God’s Word in Galatians 2 about three key truths in regard to compromising our faith.1. We are not supposed to compromise our beliefs; instead, we are to stand firm in them—stand…
My goal today is to focus on some of the events from the last half of the week, but I hope to do this by seeing these events through the eyes of one of Jesus’ closest followers—Simon Peter. Throughout the Passion Week, Simon Peter seems to be involved in everything that is happening—which is sometimes good and sometimes not so good. As we consider all these things that he said and did during these last few hours of Jesus’ life, I hope to be able to portray not only his words and actions but also his implied thoughts and feelings. I will not overly-dramatize the text of Scripture to make it say something that it does not say, but I will attempt—when possible—to analyze the text of these gospels to help us see and feel what Simon Peter is experiencing. We’ll begin where Pastor John left off last week—in the Upper Room where Jesus and His disciples celebrated the Passover on Thursday evening.
Jesus knew when, where, and how we was going to die. Which meant that Jesus would have been intentional with the time He spent on this Earth. And you have to think that the closer that He came to this week, he’d really be intentional with who He spent with and what He said and did. Today we are going to explore the time he spent Zacchaeus, as well as, His actions on Palm Sunday.
