Jesus reveals the heart of God in this series of three parables—the first two are short parables (15:1-10) and the last one is long (15:11-32). We will consider the two short parables in this message and the longer one in the next. In these parables, we learn that God is committed to finding those who are lost. Jesus will state this plainly in Luke 19, but for now He is teaching this truth in the form of parables. Not only does Jesus teach that God seeks out the lost but His followers should also seek to find them and bring them into the kingdom. This is God’s first and primary concern for the world (John 3:16)!
