Prayer of Liberation

We are currently living in the midst of a great crisis in the Christian life. We have been legally emancipated from the penalty of sin by the blood of Jesus Christ. But many of us are still living as though we are slaves to sin. We are free, but we are not living daily in that liberty. We find ourselves today—and every day—in the midst of the process of progressive sanctification. God has called us to grow in faith and maturity—eliminating sinful habits and attitudes from our lives. Each day that we grow closer to the Lord, we are reducing the power that sin has over us. Experiencing this reduction of the power of sin in my life is the goal! But this is not something that can be accomplished through my own will power. This is accomplished through the power of God’s Holy Spirit at work within me. It is also accomplished through the effectual prayer of a righteous person. This is where we find ourselves today: Exploring the ways that we can experience real and lasting deliverance from the power of sin in our lives. I believe that this can only happen through the power of prayer—through a Prayer of Liberation!
